Giving to the Church

The work of Fairmilehead Parish Church, within the parish itself and in the wider world, is only made possible by the generous donations of its members.  Our giving sustains the church building and its halls, our Minister and Parish Assistant and the wider work of the Church of Scotland.  Our parish ministry is measured in every ill person visited, every bereaved family comforted, every funeral conducted, every baptism celebrated, every sermon preached, communion celebrated and fellowship shared.

Online donationsYou can donate on line via the Church of Scotland's website.Anyone who wishes to make a donation either toe ither an individual congregation - Fairmilehead Parish Church, Edinburgh - or the national funds of the Church of Scotland can do so by visiting this page, https://www.churchofscotland.org.uk/donate  and by clicking on the donate button. All donations made to an individual congregation (Edinburgh Fairmilehead) will be returned to that congregation, thus enabling members and adherents to continue to make their regular offering or to make a special donation to enable Fairmilehead Parish Church's work to continue at this difficult time.

When we usually meet on a Sunday our offerings of money are collected and brought forward for the work of our church and the mission in the world. One of the consequences of not being able to gather for worship at present is that those who give to the church weekly through the envelope scheme or by open plate will be unable to do so. You may have already set up a standing order but, if not,  details  on how to do so while we are not worshipping in our sanctuary are below.

The work of the church doesn’t stop simply because of the coronavirus. If setting up a bank standing order isn’t something you are able to do, perhaps each week you could save your offerings in a jar, and bring them all to church when we gather again in our sanctuary at the crossroads

Setting up a Standing Order Please download a Banker's standing order form  or one can be e-mailed to you from the Church Office. Alternatively you can set up a standing order on line from your bank account to Fairmilehead Parish Church using the following details and your name as a reference. Sort Code 83-19-08 Account Number 00155005.   If you are a UK tax-payer, please consider signing our Gift Aid Form  - this allows us to recover some of the tax you have already paid. Please also download and sign a Gift Aid Form and send it to the Gift Aid Treasurer at Fairmilehead Parish Church, 1a Frogston Road West, Edinburgh EH10 7AA.    Fairmilehead Parish Church can recover 25p for every £1 you give - as long as you have completed a Gift Aid form.

Gift Aid is an essential part of our total income. The only further involvement you will have is to remember to enter the amount you give in the relevant part of your tax return, if you make one. The Gift Aid treasurer will acknowledge your payment on an annual basis.  The tax recovery from HMRC itself is all done for you within the duties of the Gift Aid Treasurer.

In order for the Church to benefit by Gift Aid, the Church is required to have an audit trail, i.e. we have to know when and how much has been paid in any one year before a claim is made.  In order to do this, payment has to be either by Bankers Order or by means of the weekly offering envelopes.

If you wish to use the weekly offering envelopes please contact the Gift Aid Treasurer via the Church Office and they will be sent to you.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the Church Office - Tel 0131 445 2374 or e-mail office@fhpc.org.uk

CONFIDENTIALITY

The Gift Aid Treasurer is the only person who knows how much you give and when.  The Gift Aid Convener may be asked from time to time if you donate but will only say yes or no.  No other information will be released.

Thank you
